Fantastic song. Certified banger. Zero percent useful when you’re standing in Home Depot trying to figure out whether you need a dehumidifier or an air purifier, or comparing three robot vacuums with slightly different suction ratings and wildly different price tags.
The choice is yours. Congratulations. Now what?
Most of us handle product comparisons the same way: open seventeen browser tabs, read four Reddit threads from 2019, get overwhelmed, and either buy whatever Amazon recommends or give up entirely and do nothing.
There’s a better way.
Let’s Break it Down
This is genuinely one of the most wildly underused ChatGPT superpowers……gimmicks……a thing ChatGPT does.
When you drop two or three products into a comparison prompt, ChatGPT doesn’t just list specs. It breaks it down. It reads between the lines. It factors in your specific situation, your budget, your household, your goal. Then tells you which option makes sense for you.
It’s the research assistant you never had but’ve* always wanted. One that works at midnight, doesn’t charge by the hour, and actually answers the question you want without burying on page 69 of some report.
*I’m just as shocked as you are that but’ve didn’t get spell checked flagged.
The Prompt: Drop It Like It’s Hot
Copy and paste this into ChatGPT:
I need help comparing [Product A] vs [Product B] (and optionally [Product C]) to figure out which one is the best fit for my situation.
Here’s my context:
What I’m trying to accomplish: [describe your goal or problem you’re solving]
My budget: [price range or max spend]
Who will be using it: [you, family, kids, pets, employees, etc.]
How often I’ll use it: [daily, weekly, occasionally]
What matters most to me: [price, quality, ease of use, durability, brand reputation, etc.]
Any dealbreakers: [things I absolutely don’t want or need]
Please compare these options across the factors that matter for my situation, give me a clear recommendation, and explain why. Keep it practical.
I don’t need a technical deep dive, just help me make a confident decision.

Here’s what this looks like in action. Say you’re comparing three robot vacuums: the Roomba j7+, the Roborock Q5, and the Eufy 11S, and your situation looks like this:
Goal: Keep up with pet hair between weekly cleanings
Budget: Under $400
Household: Two adults, one dog, hardwood floors and area rugs
Matters most: Low maintenance, works without babysitting
Dealbreakers: Anything that requires emptying after every single use
ChatGPT’s response would break down each vacuum’s real-world performance against those specific factors (not just wattage specs), and land on a clear pick with a plain-English explanation. It might say something like: “The Roborock Q5 hits your budget, handles the pet hair load you’re describing, and its self-empty base means you’re looking at maybe once every four to six weeks. The Roomba j7+ is better at obstacle avoidance but costs more than your ceiling. The Eufy 11S is fine but you’d be emptying it every other day with a dog.”
That’s the kind of answer that actually ends the tab spiral.
Quick Tip: Give It Your Real Life, Not a Generic Scenario
The more specific your context, the sharper the recommendation. Don’t just say “I have a dog.” Say “I have a Rottweiler who sheds like it’s his full-time job and we have mostly hardwood with two large area rugs.” ChatGPT isn’t going to judge you. It’s just going to give you a better answer.
Also, if you’re torn between more than three options, ask ChatGPT to help you narrow the field first before running the full comparison. It’ll save you time and keep the output focused.
